This Saturday June 23rd Bill Wright will be stopping by Fillmore & offering wagon rides with his Percheron Horses through the Fillmore neighborhoods from 2:00-6:00pm. The rides will begin at the North Fillmore Park. We’ll have watermelon & water for everyone, so come out & enjoy a wagon ride.

Outsider perspective on Bill Wright

If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you take your civic duty seriously. I wanted to share some perspective I gained while representing the Flowell voting precinct this year as a State and County delegate. Hopefully, it will make your decision whether or not to vote for Bill Wright a little easier.

As I began vetting Republican candidates, to me, they were like commodities. For the most part, we all shared the same fundamental beliefs about the role of government, and the candidates were pleasant to be around. My decision to pick the “right” candidates was harder than I thought it would be.

I was introduced to Bill by a friend shortly after I had been elected as a delegate. I told Bill I was tired of “one-liner” campaign slogans, including his, and that the Republican candidates, in my opinion, were commodities. He responded respectfully and counseled, “You need to talk to them personally and get a feel for who they really are.”

In one of the “Get to know Bill” group meetings I attended, it was clear to me that Bill wasn’t extremely comfortable around computers. That was a big issue for me because computers are a part of life, whether it’s education, work, or family. I didn’t see how the “right” candidate could be out of touch with computers and still represent my beliefs on where education is headed (Education is my main issue considering I have 6 kids all under the age of 13).

Bill visited me at my house and introduced himself to my wife and kids. We sat down, and I said, “I don’t think I’m going to vote for you Bill.” We had a lively debate for well over an hour. Through this heavy experience, I saw Bill for who he really is and I was impressed. He believes in and is committed to values and principles that will never change. He is mature enough to know that he doesn’t know everything. He is grounded. His chosen living and working environment allows him opportunities to ponder and meditate on what is real and true without being influenced by political machines.

In my opinion, his views on education are spot on. School Community Councils functioning as outlined, inspires action by parents, not indifference. We need Bill to represent rural Utah. Utah’s Capitol Hill needs Bill’s common sense and courage to stand up for the self-evident truths of America.

Grantsville City Wagon Rides

This Saturday Bill will be in Grantsville with his Percheron Horses offering wagon rides through the Grantsville neighborhoods from 12:00-4:00pm. He will be starting at the Pavilion across the street from the Grantsville High School. We’ll have watermelon & water for everyone, so come out & enjoy a wagon ride.

A bill requiring sex ed classes to teach an abstinence-only curriculum is under way this legislative session. Discussing contraceptives would not be allowed at school unless the topic is brought up by a student, and it could not be part of the curriculum. Representative Bill Wright is the sponsor of House Bill 363.
